It may sound a little strange but the industry is completely different in the global corporate market. I have done all of the hard work a little over a decade ago. Driving from venue to venue and "hoping" to use my voice in front of the right crowd. I wasted countless hours of travel away from my family to "speak" to audiences for nothing more than a few book sales and pictures for social media.  It was draining. 

In 2011, I literally walked out of an event about an hour before I was due to hit the stage. A feeling came over me that I was wasting my time once again. I got in my car and made the 5-hour journey back home in the middle of the night. That was my last practice level event.... ever! 

I knew there were more lucrative, high level opportunities in the market, but it seemed there were only a few names who owned the corporate space. The truth is I simply did not apply myself in the beginning. 

However, I knew I could not "wish" my way onto corporate stages, I had to contact my way there. I did just that 7 years ago and have never turned back. 

Highly ambitious speakers bury their expertise at the practice/beginner level events, which are difficult to attract high level credibility. They become accustomed to speaking for free, "exposure," book sales, back of the room sales (which is dying), or a very small fee under $1000. I once had a client bragging about making a $300 fee for speaking at an event as if it life-changing, until I exposed her to corporate speaking opportunities.

I am booked almost 12 months in advance and I have no need to work with clients one-on-one any longer. Corporate clients and engagements have allowed me to focus strategically on delivering value, growing my demand as a leader and growing my company offline.
